Taproot Farm & Fruit

A family CSA farm and community orchard in the Driftless region of southwest Wisconsin.

Many hands

Our farm is the result of the collective work of many hands, both family and friends.

Barbara is the main mamma and spiritual center of Taproot Farm and Fruit. She keeps the ship pointed in the right direction, and turns foes into friends with her chocolate chip cookies. She's the one holding the dog (Lupine).

Don (next to Barbara) is the utility player of the farm, gladly taking on any and all thankless tasks that no one else wants to do (unrolling fence, irrigation system design, etc.). He's secretly a big softy for the pigs.

Amy (white scarf) is the main assistant farmhand, and advises on all things ecological, keeping our production methods as close as possible to natural systems. When she's not working on her PhD in ecology at the UW, she's making buckthorn and honeysuckle wish they had never been born (in the savanna), or whupping up on Eric in Scrabble (unspecified locations in the greater Iowa/Dane county area).

Eric (yellow hat, knit by Amy) is the main farmer. He pinches himself every day, finding it hard to believe that life could be so good.
